"Be Alarmed!" is a community safety initiative, offered by NPFPD, to provide and install smoke alarms in homes for free. The goal is to improve fire safety by ensuring that each household in our district has fully functional fire alarms. 

• Smoke alarms expire after 10 years. 
• The risk of dying in a home fire is cut in half in homes with working smoke alarms.
  • In modern homes, it only takes about 2 minutes for a spark to escalate into full involvement of smoke and flames
• The smoke alarms provided by us are 10 year, battery sealed. This means you do not have to worry about checking and replacing batteries. 
  • Every bedroom and sleeping area in the house needs to have a smoke alarm.
  • Each floor, including basements needs to have a smoke alarm.
